The public’s access to Lake Martin
Sprawling across 1,445 acres, Wind Creek State Park has been a mecca for generations of lake lovers. The park boasts the largest state-operated campground in the United States with 626 sites, 187 of them on the water. Bath houses are scattered throughout the grounds, and laundry facilities are available.
There’s plenty for day visitors to enjoy, too. There’s a swimming area, a boat launch ramp, fishing pier, zip lines, archery area, hiking trails and picnic areas with tables, grills and shelters. There’s also a camp store and a marina. Pontoon boats and motorized and non-motorized jon boats are available for rent. The park is open for day use from 7 a.m. to sundown.
