Here's just a sampling of the work LMRA puts into keeping Lake Martin safe and beautiful.
To fulfill our mission, Lake Martin Resource Association has embarked on many programs and projects for the betterment of Lake Martin.
Treasured Mile Program
The Treasured Mile Program allows for recreational, volunteer public participation in controlling litter year round at Lake Martin through the “adoption” of a shoreline segment or the “adoption” of an APC-owned island.
Buoy Placement
The Alabama Marine Police have granted LMRA authority to place hazardous area markers when and where underwater hazards are located. LMRA currently maintains more than 400 buoys on Lake Martin.
Buoy placement is performed by a team of LMRA volunteers using a pontoon boat rigged to handle the process. The cost of the buoy program is paid by LMRA member dues and constitutes 65 percent of the LMRA budget.
“Renew Our Rivers” Annual Cleanup
This year’s effort on November 4 and 5 will once again be focused on littered shoreline as well as roadsides leading to public boat ramps. Additional efforts will be made to get neighborhoods throughout the Lake Martin community involved.
